City of Bellevue / Bloomberg Philanthropies: Microgrant for Youth-Led Climate Action Teams

This grant supports youth ages 15–24 who want to launch climate action projects in Bellevue, Washington. Projects can address energy, mobility, waste, natural resources, or other climate mitigation and resilience areas. The $5,000 grant covers materials, supplies, and youth participation costs, and funds flow through a fiscal sponsor. Deadline is October 1. Apply here

Colorado State Forest Service: Grant for Wildfire Risk Reduction and Forest Health Projects

Colorado is investing $7.04 million in projects that reduce wildfire risk to property, infrastructure, and water supplies while improving forest health. This is a substantial opportunity for nonprofits and public agencies doing fuels work, forest health restoration, or capacity-building in wildfire mitigation. DC Department of Energy & Environment: Microgrant for Youth-Led Climate Action Projects

Two similar youth-focused opportunities are open in Washington, DC, both with October 10 deadlines. The first supports young residents ages 15–24 who propose and lead climate action initiatives in partnership with a sponsor organization. Youth participants manage the budget, and the $5,000 grant flows to the sponsor. Apply here

DC Department of Energy & Environment / Youth Climate Action Fund: Microgrant for Youth-Led Climate Action Nonprofits

The second DC opportunity also funds youth-led climate projects (ages 15–24) covering art, action, research, or education related to sustainability and climate. At least two young people must propose and lead the work, and funds go to the sponsor organization on their behalf. Apply here

Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation: Grant for Nonprofits, Public Agencies, and Tribes Addressing Extreme Heat

California is allocating $4.5 million to protect communities most vulnerable to extreme heat. Two project tracks are available: Early Infrastructure Projects for planning and demonstration, and Advanced Infrastructure Projects for implementation. Projects must benefit disadvantaged communities and require a Lead Applicant plus at least one Co-Applicant. Deadline is October 13. Apply here

National Fish and Wildlife Foundation: Grant for Environmental Conservation Nonprofits and Local Governments in Southeast Michigan

This $400,000 opportunity funds nature-based stormwater solutions, habitat restoration, and public access improvements across Southeast Michigan. Projects fall into three categories: expanding nature-based solutions and access to nature, improving habitat quality and connectivity, and activating restored habitats. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, state and local governments, tribal governments, and educational institutions. Deadline is October 14. Apply here
