About this grant

Provides funding to Missouri nonprofit agencies to assist low- to moderate-income households impacted by severe weather or natural disasters. Funded activities include housing assistance, home repair, case management, and program administration. Grants are activated following a state or federal disaster declaration and are intended to quickly stabilize households facing homelessness or housing instability.

What you get

Initial advance of 25% of total grant award upon execution of grant agreement
Subsequent disbursements in 25% increments upon approval of back-up documentation
Funding for housing assistance (security deposits, rental/mortgage arrears, utility assistance, hotel/motel vouchers)
Funding for home repair or modifications up to $15,000 per household
Funding for case management salaries and eligible operational expenses
Up to 10% of total award for program administration costs
Grant period of approximately six months from date of declared disaster

Eligibility

Must be activated following a state (Governor) or federal (President) disaster declaration
Households assisted must be at or below 100% of Area Median Income (AMI)
Households assisted must currently reside in the area of the declared disaster
One or more individuals in the household must have experienced or be experiencing homelessness or housing instability due to the disaster
Grantee must be in compliance with all other MHDC Community Programs grants
All required initial grant documents must be completed and received by MHDC before funds are released
Home repair assistance limited to owner-occupied single-family homes at or below 100% AMI
Home repair costs cannot exceed $15,000 per household without prior MHDC authorization
