About this grant

Provides emergency funding to animal shelters, rescue groups, and related organizations to support prevention and treatment of New World Screwworm infestations in dogs, cats, and equines. Funding covers prevention medications, veterinarian oversight costs, and per-animal veterinary assessment and treatment. Organizations must be located in or adjacent to USDA-designated infested zones.

What you get

Up to $45,000 for New World Screwworm prevention and treatment medication
Up to $5,000 for costs related to a Veterinarian of Record to supervise medication administration
Up to $750 per animal for veterinary assessment, evaluation, and treatment (including humane euthanasia and disposal if indicated)
Reimbursement or funding for eligible expenses incurred on or after June 3, 2026

Documentation of Veterinarian of Record relationship (executed contract or in-process contract)

Eligibility

Organization must be located in a state with USDA-designated infested zones or in a state adjacent to one
Must have a contractual or employer relationship with a licensed veterinarian (Veterinarian of Record) to oversee prevention and treatment
If a nonprofit, must be an incorporated or organized legal entity in good standing with the Secretary of State
If a nonprofit, must have a board of at least three members with a majority of independent members
If a nonprofit, must have a current/active charitable registration in the state of primary location (for grants ≥ $25,000)
If a past ASPCA grant recipient, must be current on all reporting requirements
