About this grant

Funds research and monitoring projects that support subsistence fisheries management on Federal public lands and waters in Alaska. Projects must address Priority Information Needs identified by Federal Subsistence Regional Advisory Councils and may cover harvest monitoring, traditional ecological knowledge, or stock status and trends. Alaska Native Organizations, rural nonprofits, and Federally recognized Tribal Governments are especially encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

Applicants must have the necessary technical and administrative abilities and resources to ensure successful project completion
Proposed project must have a direct linkage to Federal subsistence fishery management in Alaska
The subsistence fishery or fish stocks must occur in or pass through waters within and adjacent to Federal public lands in Alaska
Projects up to four years in duration are eligible for funding
Proposals requesting funding that exceed $235,000 in any one year are not eligible
Habitat protection, mitigation, restoration, and enhancement are not eligible activities
Hatchery propagation, restoration, enhancement, and supplementation are not eligible activities
Projects where the primary or only objective is outreach and education are not eligible
