About this grant

Supports nonprofits and community groups working to increase local civic participation and community-wide social or civic change. Projects can address issues such as racial and social justice awareness, housing, education, health care, returning citizens, and LGBTQIA+ concerns. Funded activities may include community conversations, volunteerism, informational outreach campaigns, and work with civic and municipal leaders on behalf of marginalized communities.

Eligibility

Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or community group with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor
Organization must be formed one year or more prior to applying
A nonprofit or community group may only have one application under consideration at a time
Core support or multi-year grant recipients are not eligible to apply
Applicants already awarded a grant from Community Organizing or Resident Engagement in the same year are not eligible
Organizations denied for a 2026 Community Organizing grant are not eligible to apply for a 2026 Resident Engagement grant
Organizations with an open 2024 or 2025 Community Organizing or Resident Engagement grant must contact their Community Impact Officer before applying
