About this grant

Supports research training programs in the education sciences through two tracks: the Early Career Development and Mentoring Program, which funds integrated research and career development plans for early career investigators at academic or non-academic research institutions, and the Methods Training program, which funds training to help current education researchers maintain and enhance their research and analysis skills. Both programs aim to prepare participants to conduct rigorous education research addressing the needs of learners from prekindergarten through postsecondary and adult education.

Early Career PIs at non-R1 institutions may request up to an additional $200,000 (max $50,000/year) for grant administration and management

Eligibility

Applicant must be a research institution (academic or non-academic) located in the territorial United States
Early Career PI must have completed a doctoral degree no earlier than April 1, 2019 and no later than the start of the award period
Early Career PI must be the sole PI with no co-PIs
Early Career PI at academic institutions must hold a faculty or research scientist position and must not have received tenure by the application submission deadline
Early Career PI must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States (required at funding stage)
Early Career PI must not have previously served as PI or co-PI on an IES research grant (required at funding stage)
Research must be relevant to formal education in the United States and address improving education outcomes or education statistical/research methods
Applications focused on learners with disabilities must apply to the NCSER program, not this competition
