About this grant

Supports nonprofit and public entities in protecting, restoring, or enhancing the ecological integrity of publicly owned open spaces. Projects must involve active community participation, measurable outcomes within 18 months, and a plan for long-term sustainability. Funding is available for both planning and implementation phases.

Project budget with expense and revenue detail
Organizational budgets for previous and current year
Balance sheet from most recent completed year
Most recent 990 tax form
Letters of support from 2-4 community members/institutions
Letter of support from local government entity involved in project
Staff list, organizational chart, and board of directors list
Map of the open space site
501(c)(3) IRS determination letter or local unit of government letter
Anti-discrimination policy (if written policy exists)

Eligibility

Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or local unit of government
Organizations with fiscal sponsors are not eligible
Project must focus on publicly owned open space or legally defined public access space
Project must involve active participation of local community members
Project must contain measurable outcomes within the first 12-18 months
Project must include a plan for long-term financial and environmental sustainability
Applicants must be located in Colorado, Hawaii, Minnesota, Wyoming, or eligible counties in North Carolina
Organization must have anti-discrimination policies or practices
