About this grant

Provides two grant programs — Sending Serving Grants and House of Mercy Grants — to Episcopal congregations within the Diocese of Massachusetts. Sending Serving Grants support domestic and international outreach ministries including youth and urban-ethnic-multicultural programs, while House of Mercy Grants fund programs and projects serving women and children in need. Applications are reviewed and approved by deanery assemblies before submission to the diocesan office.

Sending Serving Grant: up to $3,000 for domestic and international outreach ministry programs
House of Mercy Grant: up to $3,405 for programs serving women and children in need
A congregation may receive both Sending Serving and House of Mercy funds in a single year

Deanery assembly vote approving the application
Submission via online form to diocesan office
Year-end report required from each grant recipient

Eligibility

Must be an Episcopal congregation within the Diocese of Massachusetts
Application must be approved by vote of the deanery assembly prior to submission
Current Parochial Report must be on file (due March 1 for prior year)
Current annual audit on file (due Sept. 1 for prior year) or verification that audit is in process
Current annual Leadership Report including most current Diocesan Convention delegate information (due March 1 each year)
Clergy compensation form updated and submitted to Church Pension Fund
Current on payments (less than 90 days in arrears) for annual assessment, diocesan loans, clergy pension, and health premiums
Sending Serving Grants require a 25% matching contribution from the congregation(s)
