About this grant

Supports pilot and starter outreach and education initiatives that implement Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) recommendations to increase interest and persistence in biomanufacturing educational programs. Round 3 specifically seeks curriculum supplement development projects aimed at 9th-12th grade students, addressing Iowa Science standards and connecting to biomanufacturing research focal areas. Projects must develop and deliver a classroom-ready curriculum package that introduces students to biomanufacturing careers and is freely accessible to Iowa public and private high schools.

Eligibility

Proposals are not accepted from individuals — must apply through an eligible institution
Lead institution must be an Iowa Public or Private accredited Institution of Higher Learning, Iowa Public or Private PreK-12 School, State of Iowa/County/City Governmental Organization, or 501(c)(3) Nonprofit operating in Iowa
Lead institution must be registered with SAM.gov and supply a Unique Entity ID on the proposal cover sheet
Round 3 proposals must include Iowa Scientists currently engaged in biomanufacturing research and curriculum development specialists
Proposal teams should include individuals with a track record of successful production of high school level curriculum materials
Project must connect to at least one of the three Chemurgy 2.0 Focus Areas (PAM, FRR, or PDT)
Resulting curricula must be published for free and open access to Iowa public and private high schools
Budget must include transportation for at least one project staff to present at the Chemurgy 2.0 Annual Symposium Meeting
