About this grant

Supports humanities programming that engages communities, nonprofits, and humanities scholars in public settings through activities such as lectures, exhibitions, symposia, cultural discussion series, and community storytelling events. Projects must involve a qualified humanities scholar and be open to the general adult public. Priority is given to projects that elevate underrepresented communities, support rural Iowans, and engage new audiences.

Project description explaining humanities engagement and alignment with Humanities Iowa's mission
Identification of humanities scholar(s) involved in the project
Budget narrative demonstrating 1:1 cash or in-kind match
SAM.gov registration and UEI number

Eligibility

Must be a not-for-profit organization (tax-exempt status not required)
Must serve the out-of-school Iowan adult public and families
Eligible types include incorporated nonprofits, institutions of higher education, units of government, Native American tribal governments, and informal associate groups
For-profit organizations are ineligible
Organization must be registered with SAM.gov and have a UEI number prior to receiving any award
Project must involve a qualified humanities scholar
Applicant must not have an active Humanities Iowa grant with incomplete final reports
Project must be open to the public
