About this grant

Supports teachers and qualifying nonprofit organizations in bringing professional teaching artists into Kentucky classrooms for one- to ten-day artist residencies. The program involves students and teachers directly in the creative process and integrates the arts into daily instruction aligned with Kentucky Academic Standards. Residencies may focus on a specific artistic discipline or explore cross-curricular pairings.

What you get

$80 per class session to cover the teaching artist fee (up to $320 per day)
Support for one- to ten-day (four- to 40-class sessions) teaching artist residencies
Assistance in developing a residency plan from arts council staff
Technical assistance with submitting the application or final report
Consultation regarding applicant eligibility

Signed signature page via DocuSign from Superintendent, Principal, Contact Person, and Artist
Residency schedule and plan developed in partnership with the teaching artist

Eligibility

Must be a teacher at a Kentucky public or private school supporting pre K-12th grade
OR a representative of a Kentucky nonprofit organization with full-time staff providing pre K-12 instruction to minors (e.g., juvenile detention centers or residential group homes)
Must select a teaching artist from the Kentucky Arts Council's Teaching Artists Directory
No more than two Teaching Art Together applications accepted from one school or organization per fiscal year
Must obtain administrator approval (district superintendent and principal) before applying
