Grant for Legal Aid Nonprofits Serving Low-Income Residents

• Annual grant funding to support civil legal aid services
• Support for staff attorneys, paralegals, and pro bono volunteers

• Completed grant application (available via How to Apply page)
• Documentation of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
• Attorney staffing documentation per Annual Grant Guidelines

• Must be an Illinois-based nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
• Must serve Illinois residents whose income is at or below 250% of the federal poverty level
• Must provide legal services without charge to the client
• Must employ at least one qualified attorney who is a compensated full-time employee licensed for at least three years as of January 1 of the funding year
• Must provide legal services in a nondiscriminatory manner

To provide grant funds to Illinois not-for-profit organizations providing legal assistance to the poor throughout Illinois.
