About this grant

Provides multi-year funding and strategic support to independent, mission-driven nonprofit local news organizations with strong growth visions. Investments focus on building business and operational capacity to achieve transformative, sustainable revenue growth. Recipients also receive hands-on strategic coaching, capacity-building resources, and access to a peer network of supported newsrooms.

Support in developing a 3–5 year growth plan targeting at least $1M in new sustainable annual revenue

Eligibility

Must be an independent 501(c)(3) organization or intending to become one
Must have a business model aligned to a public-service mission
Must serve local audiences at the state, metro, or community level
Core journalism product must be free and available to the public
Must operate without allegiance to party, ideology, profit, or power
Must demonstrate commitment to trust-building and community representation
Must meet INN standards of financial transparency
Must have a bold and sustainable business plan with vision to significantly grow and diversify revenue
