About this grant

Funds digital equity projects that address gaps in broadband networks, device access, affordability, and digital skills training. Recipients must be nonprofit community-based organizations (CBOs) partnering with eligible public schools or districts in low-income small school districts. Three grants totaling $200,000 are available: one grant of $100,000 for a rural or urban public school project and two grants of up to $50,000 each for nonprofit CBOs.

Eligibility

Applicant must be a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
Applicant must be in good standing with the California Franchise Tax Board
Applicant must have a demonstrated record of successful work deploying community technology projects to bridge the digital divide
Applicant must have a written agreement with the beneficiary public school or district to execute the proposed project
Applicant must submit at least three letters of recommendation
Applicant must submit at least two letters of endorsement from the beneficiary public school or district (one from the school/district office, one from the Parent Teachers Association)
Beneficiary public school or district must be located within the boundaries of an urban or rural small school district as identified by the California Department of Education
Beneficiary public school or district must have a Free or Reduced Price Meal (FRPM) rate of at least 50 percent
