About this grant

Supports community-based organizations in Virginia to hire and deploy Medicaid outreach and enrollment workers who will help eligible Virginians navigate new federal Medicaid requirements under H.R. 1, including work requirements, six-month renewals, and immigration eligibility changes. Funded organizations are expected to provide application assistance, case management, and community education to help residents maintain Medicaid coverage. This is an 18-month special grant initiative running from January 1, 2027 through June 30, 2028.

Eligibility

Must be a public agency or private nonprofit holding a 501(c)(3) tax-exemption, an affiliate of a 501(c)(3), or an organization with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor
Free clinics and community health centers must be members in good standing with the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics or the Virginia Community Healthcare Association
Current Project Connect grantees are eligible only if existing grants are meeting or on track to meet all stated goals and objectives
Must plan to utilize funds for outreach worker(s) providing Medicaid outreach, education, application and enrollment assistance, navigation, and case management
Outreach workers must focus on helping Virginians navigate new H.R. 1 Medicaid requirements
Must be located in or serve Virginia communities
