About this grant

Provides competitive, matching-grant funds to renovate, develop, or maintain recreational motorized, nonmotorized, and mixed-use trails and trailside facilities. Eligible projects include construction of new trails, maintenance and restoration of existing trails, development of trailside and trailhead facilities, and recreational trail linkages. The program is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration.

What you get

Up to $400,000 for non-motorized single-use trail projects
Up to $500,000 for non-motorized diverse-use trail projects
Up to $1,000,000 for motorized trail projects
Two-year grant agreement upon approval
Matching grant on 50:50, 60:40, or 80:20 (Program/Grantee) basis

How to apply

Completed Recreational Trails Program (RTP) Grant Application
Site control documentation (warranty deed, lease, use agreement, easement, or title commitment)
Boundary map of project site
Documentation of match funds or in-kind services
For nonprofits: documentation from public landowner supporting the project

Eligibility

Must be a municipal, county, state, or federal governmental agency; recognized state or federal Indian tribal government; or active Florida nonprofit corporation
Nonprofit corporations must have an agreement with a governmental agency to develop public lands
Nonprofit corporations must provide documentation from the public landowner or manager supporting the project
Applicants may submit only one application per cycle
Applications must involve only one project site
A grantee with two incomplete RTP projects by the closing date is not eligible to apply
Applicants must demonstrate adequate site control for the project site
Trail planning is NOT an eligible expense
