About this grant

Provides grants to small and medium-sized farms in Puerto Rico to support sustainable agricultural practices and community strengthening. Projects are scored on their impact in areas such as water conservation, soil health, energy efficiency, pollinator support, and increasing food access for low-income communities. A special $10,000 solar energy system grant is also available this cycle.

Letter of support from landowner (if farming on leased land)
501(c)(3) determination letter and board of directors list (for nonprofits)
Optional: budget attachment (PDF, Word, Excel, or image)

Eligibility

Farm must be located in Puerto Rico (50% ownership must be Puerto Rican)
Applicant must be Puerto Rican and an owner/operator of the farm or have long-term, legal access to the land
Farm must be an established working farm with at least 2 years in operation
Farm must be small to medium-sized (farms with more than 15 acres in agricultural production are ineligible)
501(c)(3) agricultural nonprofits are also eligible (must provide 501(c)(3) documents and board of directors list)
If farming on leased land, a letter of support from the landowner specifying lease length must be provided
Farms that have already received a LugoRico grant are not currently eligible
