About this grant

Supports community-driven approaches that strengthen pathways to economic mobility, improve the quality and accessibility of employment opportunities, and address systemic barriers to long-term economic stability. Funded strategies include innovative workforce development (apprenticeships, employer partnerships, systems change) and multilingual workforce investment (integrated training, career coaching, credential recognition). Awards are available at two levels: Transformational Grants for comprehensive initiatives and Supplementary Grants for focused investments.

What you get

Transformational Grants of up to $500,000 for comprehensive initiatives addressing one or both strategies
Supplementary Grants of up to $300,000 for focused investments addressing one strategy
Grant period of one, two, or three years
Indirect costs up to 20% allowed
Flexible funding covering operational costs and new or existing staff

How to apply

Letter of Intent (LOI) submitted through SurveyMonkey Apply portal
Description of proposed project addressing one or both funding strategies
Identification of roles and responsibilities of participating partners (if applicable)
Proposed funding amount and grant period
For multi-year funding: anticipated activities, milestones, and use of funds across grant period

Eligibility

Must serve the catchment area of MGH: all neighborhoods of Boston, City of Chelsea, City of Revere, and Town of Winthrop (Suffolk County)
Eligible applicants include community-based nonprofit organizations of Suffolk County
Massachusetts-based workforce development centers serving Suffolk County are eligible
Educational and academic institutions serving Suffolk County are eligible
Municipalities and other eligible public entities serving Suffolk County are eligible
Total amount requested may not exceed 50% of the applicant organization's annual operating budget
Organizations within the MGB health system cannot apply
Must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) through the SurveyMonkey Apply portal by October 21, 2026
