About this grant

Supports programs that provide safe, welcoming spaces for BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, and other marginalized young people to develop identity, agency, and a sense of belonging outside of school or home. Programs must be culturally responsive, sustained over time, and engage the same group of young people and trusted adults. Priority is given to small, grassroots, community-based organizations serving primary and secondary school-aged youth.

What you get

Up to $125,000 per year for up to two years (maximum $250,000 total)
Project support for staff, materials/supplies, and stipends for young people
Up to 10% indirect/overhead costs considered
Potential for renewal grant after first grant ends

Eligibility

Programs must intentionally serve BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, or youth experiencing significant inequities who are primary and/or secondary school aged
Programs serving areas with populations of 50,000+ must specifically serve BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA2S+ youth
Programs must support identity development, demonstration of agency, and experience of belonging
Programs must include the same group of young people and adults meeting over a sustained period (at least 35 hours per school year or 3 weeks/75 hours for summer)
Programs must engage, affirm, and intentionally respond to cultural identities of the young people served
Organizations may only have one grant under this funding opportunity at a time
Organizations currently receiving funding for predecessor grants are not eligible until their current grant ends
Programs must not require a fee for participation without an intentional sliding-scale or scholarship system
