About this grant

Provides funding to support youth sports participation and competition-related activities in North Carolina. Two funding tracks are available: travel funding for nonprofessional sporting teams competing in athletic competitions, and host funding to attract state, regional, and national sporting events and tournaments. Priority is given to applications focused on underserved youth.

What you get

Travel funding: up to $5,000 for travel costs (gas, charter bus, hotel) for nonprofessional sporting teams competing in in-state or out-of-state competitions
Host funding: up to $25,000 to attract state, regional, area, and national sporting events and tournaments
Host funding may cover bid/event rights fees, sports equipment, venues, administration, structures, and marketing costs
Grant funds sent directly to recipient within 45 days of the proposed event

How to apply

Fully completed application through the Grant Lifecycle Manager portal
Application signed by both parties if applying on behalf of an eligible organization
Grant Agreement form signed by Applicant, Administrator, and Bookkeeper
Proof of payment (check stub and/or account transaction summary AND receipt, invoice, or purchase order) within 30 days of event completion
Digital photographs of youth participating in the event

Eligibility

Must be a North Carolina city/county government unit, Pre-K-12 school, or 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
Nonprofit organizations must have tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
Organizations must be able to adopt the Commission's branding and promote the Commission as a sponsor in marketing materials
Other organizations (e.g., Convention and Visitors Bureaus, Sports Commissions) may apply if working in partnership with an eligible party
Travel funding is limited to $5,000 per county (or sporting team/group) per year
Applications must focus on sports participation and competition-related activities for North Carolina's youth
