Research Planning Grant for Education Researchers and Collaborative Teams

• $75,000 total research planning grant
• 12 to 18 months of support for collaborative research planning
• Access to Vision Grant Cohort Learning Program with in-person sessions in Chicago
• Collective learning opportunities within and across teams alongside Spencer Program staff
• Prerequisite status for applying to the Transformative Research Grant program ($3.5 million)

• Intent to Apply Form (submitted by August 12, 2026 deadline)
• Proposal Narrative (2000 words, double-spaced, 12-point font, uploaded as PDF)
• Project Timeline (1 page maximum, uploaded as PDF)
• Budget and Budget Justification (completed via online budget form)
• Subcontract budget forms (if applicable)
• AI Agreement and Disclosure acknowledgment
• Signature from Authorized Representative of the Administering Organization (via Adobe E-sign)

• Principal Investigators (PIs) and Co-PIs must have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or terminal degree in a professional field
• PI must be affiliated with a non-profit organization or public/governmental institution willing to serve as the administering organization
• Eligible administering organizations include non-profit colleges, universities, school districts, research facilities, and 501(c)(3) organizations (or equivalent non-profit status outside the US)
• Graduate students may be part of the research team but may not be named PI or Co-PI
• PIs and Co-PIs may not be part of more than one Vision Grant proposal (funded and/or in review)
• Proposals must be submitted in English with budgets in U.S. Dollars
• Proposed budget may not exceed $75,000 total and may not include indirect cost charges
• Grant duration may not exceed 18 months
