About this grant

A subcontracting funding opportunity designed to strengthen the capacity of community-based organizations serving Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex (TGI) communities in Los Angeles County. Selected organizations receive funding to expand public health programming, organizational infrastructure, staff development, and long-term sustainability. Collaborations of three or more CBOs are also eligible to apply jointly.

What you get

Subcontract award of no less than $200,000 per year for individual CBOs
Subcontract award of no less than $500,000 per year for collaborations of three or more CBOs
Capacity-building support for organizational infrastructure and program delivery
Funding for staff development and training
Support for systems development (data tracking, evaluation, communications)
Funding for partnership and coalition-building efforts

How to apply

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) describing organizational mission, history, and community impact
Description of experience serving TGI communities
Description of current capacity and areas for growth
Vision for how capacity-building funds will strengthen public health reach
Description of organizational leadership and staffing structure
Proof of required insurance coverage
Background check and security check documentation per DPH requirements

Eligibility

Organization must be TGI-led (leadership primarily composed of TGI individuals) OR have at least 60% of leadership identifying as TGI OR serve a population in which at least 60% of participants identify as TGI
Must be based in and serve communities within Los Angeles County
Must demonstrate a commitment to advancing health equity for TGI communities
Individual CBOs receive no less than $200,000 per year; collaborations of no less than three CBOs receive no less than $500,000 per year
Must carry Commercial General Liability insurance with minimum $2 million general aggregate
Must carry Auto Liability insurance of not less than $1 million
Must carry Workers' Compensation insurance of $1 million per accident
Must carry Professional Liability/Errors and Omissions insurance of not less than $1 million per claim
