About this grant

Funds community learning centers that provide students with academic enrichment, homework help, recreational, and social-emotional support opportunities outside of regular school hours. Programs must serve students at schools where at least 40 percent of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals, and must also offer educational development opportunities for families. Awards are renewable for up to three years.

Annual grant award ranging from $50,000 to $250,000 per year
Up to three years of initial funding, with renewability for an additional three years
Access to statewide evaluation, professional learning, database management, technical assistance, and quality advising (funded by 2% set-aside)
Support for academic enrichment, STEM, arts, tutoring, family engagement, and other after-school activities

For CBOs/FBOs: IRS determination letter, organization chart, board list, financial statements, and annual operating budget

Eligibility

Must serve schools where at least 40 percent of students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals
Eligible lead applicants include LEAs, endowed academies, charter and magnet schools, RESCs applying on behalf of LEAs, and CBOs/FBOs in partnership with a local school or district
CBOs/FBOs must provide IRS determination letter, organization chart, board of directors list, financial statements, and annual operating budget
Applications must include partnership with at least one partner applicant
Programs must operate at least 25 weeks per school year
Elementary programs must operate 4 days/week, 2.5 hours/day (minimum 100 days); Middle/High School 3 days/week, 2 hours/day (minimum 75 days)
Staff-to-student ratio must be 1:15 (1:10 for Kindergarten and Pre-K)
High school applicants have a maximum target of 50 students per site
