About this grant

Supports projects focused on bird conservation and habitat enhancement across Missouri, including habitat restoration, protection, and community conservation and engagement efforts. Two grant categories are available: a Natural Community/Habitat Grant for habitat restoration and protection in priority landscapes, and a Community Conservation and Engagement Grant for community-based programs, educational initiatives, and sustainable practices that benefit native birds. Projects should benefit an array of bird species across Missouri's diverse habitats.

Project location description with maps and MDC Tier designation
Project description with narrative and tabular information
Anticipated acres affected and people reached
Habitat types, birds, and other wildlife benefited
Detailed budget table with MOBCI funds requested and matching funds
Five-Year Management Synopsis (habitat projects) or Five-Year Outreach Synopsis (community projects)
Lead organization and partner contact information
Measurable outcomes and deliverables
Reporting and monitoring plan with point-of-contact

Eligibility

Must be a public or private organization, non-profit, or government entity
Projects must benefit native bird species across Missouri habitats
Projects must be located within Missouri
One-to-one match of funds required (not originating from Missouri Department of Conservation)
Indirect costs capped at 10% of total requested funds
Monitoring costs must comprise 10% or less of project costs
MOBCI funds may not be used for administrative overhead, salaries, travel, lodging, or equipment purchase
Project area should be within a priority tier (priority geography, natural area, COA, or CCT)
