About this grant

Supports community-led projects focused on ʻāina restoration, cultural and ecological stewardship, and building resilient communities across five specific moku in Hawaiʻi. Projects should align with community-identified priorities in areas such as forest and watershed conservation, coastal stewardship, marine restoration, disaster preparedness, and community governance. Two funding pathways are available: a collaborative pathway for multi-organization projects and an individual pathway for single nonprofit organizations.

What you get

Collaborative Project Pathway: up to $1,200,000 per moku for a two-year funding term
Individual Project Pathway: up to $200,000 per moku for a two-year funding term

One-on-one office hours support from Hawaiʻi Sea Grant staff
Fiscal sponsorship option through Community Funding Hub

Statement of Interest (due August 31)
Full proposal (due November 6, 2026)
Budget narrative (template provided in RFP)
Project narrative (template provided in RFP)

Eligibility

Must be a nonprofit organization
Must have strong place-based relationships in one of the five project moku or hui moku
Must have a history of supporting ʻāina restoration and thriving communities in the project area
Project activities must be focused within the five moku or hui moku: Kona, Kauaʻi (South and West); Waiʻanae, Oʻahu; Molokaʻi; Central Maui; and Kohala, Hawaiʻi Island
Must submit a Statement of Interest before submitting a full proposal
