About this grant

Supports two research training programs: the Early Career Development and Mentoring Program, which funds integrated research and career development plans for early-career investigators at academic or non-academic research institutions, and the Methods Training for Education Research program, which funds training to help current education researchers maintain and enhance their research and analysis skills. Both programs aim to build the education research workforce and prepare participants to conduct rigorous, relevant research addressing education outcomes and methods.

Early Career: non-R1 institutions may request up to an additional $200,000 (max $50,000/year) for grant administration and management

Biographical sketches for key personnel

Eligibility

Applicant must be a research institution (academic or non-academic) located in the territorial United States
For Early Career: PI must have completed a doctoral degree no earlier than April 1, 2019 and no later than the start of the award period
For Early Career: PI must be the sole PI with no co-PIs
For Early Career: PI at academic institutions must hold a faculty or research scientist position and must not have received tenure by the application submission deadline
For Early Career: PI must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States (required at funding stage)
For Early Career: PI must not have previously served as PI or co-PI on an IES research grant (required at funding stage)
Research must be relevant to formal education in the United States and address improving education outcomes or education statistical/research methods
Applications focused on learners with disabilities must apply to the NCSER program, not this competition
