About this grant

Funds organizations to host delivery sites for an alternative, work-based teacher preparation program that trains career changers and college graduates to obtain an Arkansas standard teaching license. Grantees are responsible for recruiting teacher candidates, delivering curriculum, facilitating face-to-face and online instruction, and supporting candidates through licensure. The program targets regions with high demand for licensed teachers, particularly in high-poverty schools and critical shortage areas.

What you get

Annual grant award calculated by multiplying the number of candidates in good standing by the current candidate tuition rate (approximately $1,900 per candidate)
Funding for site facilitator salaries and fringe benefits
Funding for operating expenses including supplies, performance-assessment vouchers, disability services, and facility charges
Funding for travel expenses
Funding for contracts for clinical supervisors
Up to 7% indirect costs allowed
Grant period of performance from July 1 to June 30 (2027–2031)

Eligibility

Must be an Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative, two- or four-year college/university, school district, or approved vendor with relevant experience in educator preparation and/or professional development in Arkansas
Institutions of Higher Education must form a partnership with local Arkansas Education Service Cooperative(s) and submit a signed MOA
Arkansas Education Service Cooperatives must form a partnership with local school district(s) and submit a signed MOA
Arkansas school districts must form a partnership with an Arkansas Education Service Cooperative and submit a signed MOA
Approved vendors must form a partnership with a local Arkansas ESC and submit a signed MOA
The applicant/fiscal agent must have a designated fiscal manager who has completed mandatory DESE GMS training
Applicant must have a financial management system in place to properly administer grant funds
All partners must sign and initial a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on every page
