• Planning International Collaboration: up to $50,000 for six to twelve months
• Manuscript Preparation: up to $250,000 for one to three years
• Scholarly Digital Project: up to $250,000 for one to three years
• Option to request federal matching funds to leverage third-party funding
• Approximately 15 grants awarded totaling approximately $2,500,000

• Organization must be a nonprofit recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
• Or an accredited institution of higher education (public or nonprofit)
• Or a state or local government or one of their agencies
• Or a federally recognized Native American Tribal government
• Project must involve two or more scholars
• Project director must be a scholar affiliated with the applicant institution and not enrolled in a degree-granting program
• Individuals and foreign or for-profit entities are ineligible
• Project must address American history and culture or Western civilization (this competition cycle)
