About this grant

Supports independent nonprofit literary arts organizations and small presses in developing, producing, and publicly engaging audiences with high-quality literary projects. Funded projects may include literary journal issues, book publishing, anthologies, reading series, literary festivals, and digital public programming. Projects must demonstrate artistic excellence, editorial rigor, and meaningful community impact.

Representative Work Samples directly related to the proposed project

Eligibility

Must be an independent nonprofit literary arts organization, independent publisher, or small press, including literary journals
Must maintain a literary arts mission
Must be headquartered in South Arts' nine-state region (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee)
Units of government are ineligible
Colleges and universities are ineligible
Organizations funded in the previous Literary Arts Project Grant cycle are ineligible
Applicants may not propose the same project to another South Arts grant program
