About this grant

Funds nonprofit and community-based organizations to implement evidence-based interventions and environmental strategies targeting youth and young adults aged 12–25 at greater risk for substance use, including vaping, alcohol, and marijuana. Grantees are expected to serve specific wards within Washington, DC, implementing a combination of evidence-based interventions and community-level environmental strategies. Up to eight awards are available, one per ward across the District of Columbia.

Performance period November 2, 2026 – September 29, 2027
Potential for up to four (4) additional option years contingent on performance and funding availability

Eligibility

Must be a non-profit or community-based organization with an established physical presence in the District of Columbia within wards 1 through 8
Cannot be a current DC Prevention Center or a parent company
Must have at least two (2) years of experience addressing community and public health, substance use, mental health and behavioral health issues in DC
Must have at least two (2) years of experience working with youth and young adults ages 12–25 at-risk of substance use
Must have a UEI number, Tax ID, and be registered in the federal System for Award Management (SAM)
Individuals are not eligible for funding
Must have experience hiring staff for programmatic tasks in the past two years
