About this grant

Supports nonprofit organizations and government agencies in Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey counties working to improve community health and well-being. Funding is flexible and may cover programs and projects, unrestricted general operating support, and capacity building. Two tracks are available: Disaster Recovery & Resilience Grants for Hurricane Helene recovery work, and Community Impact Grants for broader health and well-being initiatives.

What you get

Disaster Recovery & Resilience Grants: awards up to $75,000 for Hurricane Helene recovery or long-term resilience work
Community Impact Grants: awards up to $50,000 for health and well-being work not tied to Hurricane Helene
Funding may support programs/projects, unrestricted general operating support, and capacity building
Support for staff salaries, rent, utilities, insurance, technology, and other operating expenses
Capacity-building support for strategic planning, technology upgrades, board development, and leadership training

How to apply

Selection of appropriate grant track (Disaster Recovery & Resilience or Community Impact)
Identification of strategic priority areas advanced by the work
Budget with support areas broken out if requesting multiple types of support

Eligibility

Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or government agency
Must have a physical location within Avery, Mitchell, or Yancey County
Grants to individuals are not eligible
Political purposes including lobbying are not eligible
Out-of-area projects or organizations are not eligible
For collaborations, lead applicant must have a physical location in the region and meet all eligibility requirements
Work must benefit the AMY region
Grant funds must be used during the grant period ending December 2027
