About this grant

Funds nonprofit and governmental organizations to expand the Stress-Busting Program for Family Caregivers statewide in New Jersey, providing structured group sessions that help family caregivers of persons living with dementia reduce stress and improve their quality of life. Grantees will train facilitators and master trainers, administer nine-week class series in-person and virtually, and support caregivers with tools, information, and community resources. Each award covers one county and supports both English and Spanish programming.

Up to $50,000 per county grant award
Up to 7 grants available totaling $350,000
Grant period from December 1, 2026 to September 29, 2027
$30,000 allocated for direct service costs (class series delivery)
$5,000 per completed in-person class series reimbursement
$2,500 per completed virtual class series reimbursement
Access to DoAS Master Trainers for facilitator training
Support from DoAS coordination activities and peer network

Eligibility

Must be a nonprofit or governmental entity with the ability to be trained and offer SBP classes in the proposed county
Must be in good standing with DHS if an existing grant or contract is in place
Must have all outstanding Plans of Correction submitted to DHS for approval prior to submission
Must be fiscally viable based on audited financial statements
Must not appear on the State of New Jersey Consolidated Debarment Report or be suspended/debarred by any state or federal entity
Must have written conflict-of-interest policies and procedures satisfying DHS Policy Circular P8.05
A bidder may apply for up to three (3) grants total, but no more than one (1) grant per county
Non-governmental entities must register with NJSTART upon award
