About this grant

Provides funding for motorized and non-motorized recreational trail projects including construction of new trails, restoration of existing trails, development of trailside and trailhead facilities, trail linkages, equipment purchase, land acquisition, and accessibility assessments. Eligible recipients include cities, counties, townships, park boards, state and federal agencies, registered nonprofits, and federally-recognized Indian tribes. The program reimburses up to 80% of total project costs.

How to apply

Registration and application submission via WebGrants portal
Project budget demonstrating at least 20% local match
Documentation of local match sources (tax sources, bond issues, force account contributions, donated labor, equipment, or materials)

Eligibility

Must be a city, county, township, park board, park district, state or federal agency, registered nonprofit, or federally-recognized Indian tribe
Must register in WebGrants to submit applications
Must have at least 20% of total project cost available at time of application to meet match requirements
Only federal, state, and municipal agencies qualify for funding of equipment for recreational trail construction and maintenance
Project sponsors must pay all project costs upfront and then request reimbursement
All bidding, procurement, and construction must adhere to Title VI requirements
