About this grant

Funds treatment and recovery support services for parents with substance use disorders who have minor children or are pregnant and are under correctional control. Eligible programs may operate in jail, prison, or as an alternative to incarceration, providing family-focused SUD treatment, case management, mental health care, parenting skills, and related services. The goal is to reduce recidivism and improve reentry outcomes for parents and their children.

Category 1 total pool: up to $8,000,000 (8 anticipated awards)
Category 2 total pool: up to $5,000,000 (5 anticipated awards)

Eligibility

Category 1: State, local, tribal governments and other units of local government
Category 2: Nonprofit organizations with or without 501(c)(3) status (excluding institutions of higher education) and faith-based organizations
Must propose family-focused SUD treatment that includes the parent, child, and appropriate family members
Must use validated tools to assess participant and family strengths and needs
Must track whether each participant successfully completes the SUD treatment program
Must conduct a process and outcome evaluation of the intervention
Category 2 applicants must submit an MOU with correctional agency partners
All collaborating service provider organizations must have been providing relevant services for a minimum of 2 years prior to application
