About this grant

Provides competitive grant funding to expand access to evidence-based, high-quality summer and after-school programming for Pre-K through 12th grade students. Funds support academic intervention and enrichment activities aimed at reducing achievement gaps for students not proficient in reading and/or mathematics. Programs must align with the Alabama Afterschool Quality Standards and serve communities with demonstrated need.

What you get

Individual ASAP Grant: up to $50,000 for one Anchor Organization
Collaborative Group ASAP Grant: up to $225,000 per group
Funds distributed in two installments: January 2027 (1/2 total) and April 2027 (1/2 total)
Support from OXL or ALSDE partner during program implementation
Access to ASAP grant office hours throughout October 2026

How to apply

Completion of FY 2027 ASAP Grant Intake Form
Program narrative addressing all selection criteria categories (A–J)
Detailed budget organized by allowable cost categories with budget narrative
Signatures from Anchor Organization Primary Contact, Superintendent/Program Director, and Grant Accountant
For Collaborative Group applications: signatures and budgets from all Partner Organizations
Evidence of need including poverty percentage or free/reduced-price lunch data

Eligibility

Must be a local education agency (LEA), city or county municipality, not-for-profit organization, or entity that provides support to summer- and after-school programs
Individual schools are not eligible to apply
Programs must serve students in any Pre-K-12 grade configuration
Applicants must be willing to utilize the Alabama Afterschool Quality Standards
Priority given to programs serving populations with poverty percentage of 65% or higher or areas with limited access to high-quality after-school/summer programming
Anchor Organizations must include a regular schedule and provide direct, consistent services for students
All awardees must attend one required virtual intake session and one virtual professional learning session
