About this grant

Funds projects that strategically reduce wildfire risk to property, infrastructure, and water supplies while promoting forest health through scientifically based forestry practices. Eligible projects include fuels and forest health work as well as capacity-building efforts that help communities develop and implement future mitigation projects. Projects may be located on private, state, county, or municipal forestlands.

Eligibility

Must be a community group, fire protection district, tribe/tribal organization, utility, or non-profit organization
Applicants must coordinate proposed projects with relevant county officials to ensure consistency with county-level wildfire risk reduction planning
Grant recipients are required to match at least 25% or 50% of the total project cost (cash or in-kind)
Projects must be on private, state, county, or municipal forestlands
Follow-up monitoring is a required component of the grant program
