About this grant

Funds community-based, Tribal, and county behavioral health organizations to expand youth and young adult substance use prevention through policy, systems, and environmental change. Programs focus on leadership development and civic engagement for youth of color and 2S/LGBTQIA+ youth ages 12 to 26 living in communities disproportionately impacted by the war on drugs. Funded partners implement comprehensive strategies that reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors associated with youth substance use prevention.

Grant award of up to $1,000,000
Technical assistance from The Center
Participation in external evaluation of EYC effectiveness
Access to regional convenings (at least two over the award period)
Up to seven payments over the grant term including initial advance, five semi-annual disbursements, and final payment

Eligibility

Must be a 501(c)(3) community-based organization or Tribal organization
Must have established and trusted community relationships
Applicant cannot have an active EYC grant
EYC-funded partners whose current award ends by December 2026 are eligible to apply
Fiscal sponsors are allowed to oversee more than one active EYC grant
Must be located in California and service California
