About this grant

Provides microgrants to support youth-led climate action projects in Washington, DC. Projects must be proposed, designed, and led by at least two young people ages 15–24, covering themes such as art, action, research, or education related to sustainability and climate. Funds are disbursed to eligible sponsor organizations on behalf of youth project leads.

What you get

Microgrant award of $1,000–$5,000 per project
A single organization may receive up to three microgrants for separate projects
Virtual orientation meeting with DOEE staff and other grantees
Monthly 30-minute check-in calls with DOEE
In-person closing and celebration event

Online application form submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on October 10, 2026
Tax Exempt Affirmation Letter (upon selection)
Certificate of Clean Hands (upon selection)
Certificate of Insurance showing Commercial General Liability Insurance (upon selection)
Evidence of Sexual/Physical Abuse & Molestation insurance if working with youth under 18 (upon selection)
W-9 and bank account information for DIFS Supplier account
Agreement to Appendices (Terms and Conditions, Certifications, Image Release)

Eligibility

Project must be proposed, designed, led, and implemented by at least two youth ages 15–24
Project must align with DC's sustainability and climate plans
Project must focus on youth leadership and cover one of: Art, Action, Research, or Education
Project must have at least one measurable output and one measurable outcome with numerical targets
All projects must be completed by April 15, 2027
Sponsor organization must be legally registered in the District of Columbia
Sponsor organization must be recognized as a non-profit or charitable organization under local laws
Sponsor organization must have a bank account in the organization's name
