About this grant

A multi-phase NIH prize competition that rewards non-academic 501(c)(3) organizations, advocacy groups, and state or federally recognized Tribes for building the research capacity and infrastructure needed to lead or partner in maternal health research. The challenge focuses on maternity care deserts — areas lacking hospitals, birth centers, or obstetric providers — and includes a new emphasis on fathers' roles in maternal health outcomes. Participating organizations receive training, mentorship, and cash awards as they progress through recruitment, training, proposal, and research phases.
